About

An SEO publication that has nothing to sell you

Almost everything written about SEO is written by someone who wants to do your SEO. That is not automatically dishonest, but it bends the advice — towards complexity, towards retainers, towards the parts that are hard to do yourself. OnwardCraft is the other thing: a small desk that publishes what we can verify and asks for nothing but an email address.

What we cover

One subject — search. Three desks, and nothing outside them. We do not cover paid ads, social, branding or "growth" in general, because a small publication only earns the right to be believed by staying narrow enough to be right.

  • Local SEO

Google Business Profiles, citations, reviews, and the fight for the three map spots that take most of the clicks.

  • SEO

How organic search actually works for a business with no SEO budget — what it costs, what it returns, and who to trust with it.

  • Technical SEO

Crawling, indexing, schema, site speed, and migrations — the plumbing that decides whether your pages ever get read.

What we will and will not print

  1. One subject only

We cover search. Not ads, not social, not branding. A narrow desk is the only way a small publication earns the right to be believed on anything.

  2. No invented numbers

Every figure is either sourced and linked, or labelled as a benchmark or an estimate. We never present a projection as a measured result.

  3. Nothing is for sale here

We do not sell SEO services, take placement fees, or rank anyone in exchange for money. The newsletter is free and the only thing we ask for.

  4. Corrections in public

When we get something wrong we fix the page and say what changed, rather than quietly editing it away.

Who writes this

OnwardCraft is a small independent desk covering search — and only search — for owner-operated businesses. We publish what we can verify, label every estimate as an estimate, and correct the record in public.

The archive is 28 articles deep and was last reviewed in full on September 21, 2026. When an article stops being true, we would rather update it than let it quietly rot at the top of a search result.

How this is paid for

It is not, yet — and that is the honest answer rather than a positioning statement. There are no ads, no affiliate links, no sponsored placements and no paid inclusion in any list or city guide. Nobody has ever paid to appear on this site, and if that ever changes it will be disclosed on the page it affects, before you read it.

The newsletter

One SEO email. Every other week.

What actually changed in search, what to do about it, and the checklist to do it with. No pitch — we have nothing to sell you.
